Saskatchewan Coal Play. Kent Exploration has applied for coal disposition permits on 98,432 hectares (approximately 328 square miles)in the region. Permitting was submitted on May 14 on the first 18,432 ha and the Company has received a comfort letter from Saskatchewan Energy Resources giving it first priority in the claim area.
The Company's QP, Marvin A. Mitchell, P.Eng, has visited the Company's claim area to review ground conditions in preparation for a late summer drill program. Mr. Mitchell was the head of coal projects for five years for Ranger Oil on their Mt. Spieker Coal Project next to the Bullmoose coal mine.
The Company's first properties are in close proximity to North American Gem's (NAG: TSX-V) "Adamas" discovery where, in 2007, Adamas discovered a coal seam that graded sub-bituminous A (43-101-compliant) quality over five metres in the Cretaceous rock (Mannville group rocks) sequence containing coal similar to the Goldsource coal discovery.
Historical data and reports suggest that coal is present to the north edge of the Cretaceous rock sequence along the shores of Wapawekka Lake to the north of the Adamas discovery and the Company's claim groups. These reports further suggest that the Wapawekka outcrop is likely associated with a larger deposit to the south. The Adamas intercept is directly south of Wapawekka Lake along the low-lying basin adjacent to the southeast of the Narrow Hills uplands.
The recent coal discovery by Goldsource Mines of bituminous coal in two drill holes 1,600 metres apart in a low-lying basin southeast of the adjacent uplands at Pasquia Hills to the southeast of the Narrow Hills intercept, confirms the regional potential for coal deposits and suggests the potential for a much larger coal system. The Goldsource discovery at Pasquia is roughly 80 to 100 kilometres southeast of the Narrow Hills. Both have similar topographical features and are in the same Cretaceous rock sequence.
The Company currently has applications on approximately 500 square miles of ground, of which comfort letters have been received on 72 square miles.
